Default Orchids from Fiji

Last October my husband and I honeymooned in Fiji and I saw some very interesting orchids growing around a particular resort we stayed at (it was a rainforest..very hot and humid). Any ideas what these beauties are? They were spactacular...i wish i got some better photos but i just snapped them in passing.

Looks like a Trichoglottis. Not sure what species. Beautiful!

The second one looks like a dendrobium. First one looks like a reed-stemmed Epidendrum to me.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

I agree with Ross on the second looking like a dendrobium...but I suspect that the first is probably Arachnis hookeriana; take a look IOSPE PHOTOS

Hi.
The Dendrobium looks like a cross between D.phalaenopsis ( D.bigibbum ) crossed with a spathulate Dendrobium whilst the second photo is most likely an Arachnis flos-aeries cross. A.hookeriana has smaller leaves & the flower is white with a mauve lip. I think the ISOPE photo is wrong

Here is a past thread of pheli's Arachnis flos-aeris - http://www.orchidboard.com/community...los-aeris.html
Here is Arachnis Maggie Oei 'Yellow Ribbon' - http://thump01.pbase.com/u42/r53lanc....Mandai13b.jpg
Here are some Arachis hybrids - Arachnis Hybrids
and here - Arachnis-- The Scorpion Orchids
and here - ARACHNIS ORCHIDS
Perhaps these can help

Hi Dorothy
Thanks for the details of the Arachnis. "Stonedragonsfarm" replied that the Arachnis was most likely Arachnis hookeriana to which I replied that it was not & that the true A.hookeriana is white with a mauve lip & also the leaves are much smaller. There is a photo of the true A.hookeriana in
"Orchids of Sarawak" the authors are Beaman;Wood;Beaman & Beaman plate #4 (pge 143 )
Hope this helps

The first one looks like a Arachnis Maggie Oei Yellow and the second looks like Den. Jaquelyn Thomas type (mine's been in constant bloom for over a year). See if they match my pics

Hello Chubidubi
Yes I am inclined to say that it is Maggie Oi - which is a flos-aeries cross. We have some yellow ones ourself but there not flowering yet.
