Kath, peloric, roughly, means unusual symmetry, referring to the petals, which resemble the lip more than the sepals. This can happen in any orchid, but is fairly common in phals. Yellows are quite rare, though, and very desirable.

Kath, look at the picture of the yellow phal in post #251.
See the two side petals trying to look like the lip? That is "peloric". I think that is the first yellow one I've seen!

My friend Doris Gloyd (really) has a lovely phal noid, which her sons Floyd, Lloyd, and Boyd, avoid. She used to be really annoyed, that the brothers Gloyd; Floyd, Lloyd, and Boyd; who were employed by Mrs. Gloyd , who really enjoyed her noid, would be deployed by a tawdry tabloid, reminiscent of a painful hemorrhoid, and, determined that the noid be destroyed, would be bouyed by the thoughts of Freud, and pumped up by a steroid, and, like a toxoid android, devoid it of its blossoms spheroid.
