Oh I absolutely did ask, multiple times in multiple emails, and there was no attempt at an explanation of any kind.

Nlamr --- in that case, it's not good enough on their part, as you're the customer that purchased a plant from them - a nursery, that is supposed to be professional with their work.

Mistakes can certainly be made - but not respecting the customer by giving no satisfactory explanation for sorting things out ----- isn't what we expect.

Anyway - since the plant is a cross ----- and I assume it's not a clone or mericlone, then what the flower will look like won't be known until it blooms. This would be the same case for a selfing ------ flower appearance won't be known until it finally blooms. So maybe whether it is a pinkie selfing or a pinkie crossed with an alba ----- we won't know the result until flowering time. It could turn out to be a real gem.

It certainly does have potential, looking on the bright side of things now that it is mine, and it does look healthy so at least I have that going for me anyway.....

Seriously, call your credit card company and open a dispute. Do it. It's not hard, and you'll probably win.

And lave Yelp and Google reviews. Highly critical ones. One star reviews.

The only way for you to make this right is for you to be a problem for the nursery, unfortunately.

I once had an orchid nursery settle with me in exchange for deleting my critical review. I don't know if that will work for Norman's Orchids (orchids.com), but it's worth a shot.

If this is a Norman problem, you are probably out of luck. 'Renaming Norman' is notorious.

Having said that, what you got could be equivalent to a selfing. Alba forms are recessive, so the pink should come through.

Thank you! I really don't know much about genetics but would love to learn, and your response gave me some insight that I was kind of hoping for in the thread as well as the other responses I recieved.

Just a note here... the Board does have a policy that a member needs to have 100 posts and 6 months' membership to make negative posts about a vendor. So the OP was correct in being reluctant to name them, being a relatively new member. If the bad information is true, we all certainly want to know about it... but a bad review can hurt a vendor and there are people on the 'net who will trash others for reasons of their own or no reason. (You think all orchid people are too nice for vendettas? Try running shows for awhile...And then there are the pure trolls.) That's why there's a need to make it harder for someone to sign up just to settle a score.(They could still do it but a mod would have justification to remove the post quickly) Most of the bad actors have been reported before, so a newer member can find one of those threads and certainly add their experience to it, so we still gain the benefit of new information.
