New Miltonia Orchids...or are they?
Default New Miltonia Orchids...or are they?

I had recently purchased what was labeled as “Miltonia” Orchids, but we all know that they are Miltoniopsis types. This is incredibly disheartening since the care difference between Miltonia and Miltoniopsis is so different, anyone who wasn’t experienced would probably kill it if they gave it Miltonia care.

Regardless I would like some IDs, I AM FULLY AWARE SIGHT IDING IS NOT OK BUT IM NOT ENTERING IN ANY CONTEST, I would just like to know names for comfort reasons. So please don’t give me the paragraphs of why you can’t get ids unless you do a lab check, I know all of this, please and thank you 💕

The pink one really smells like roses and the burgundy one smells like roses with a lemon twist

Update: The pink one is confirmed to be Miltoniopsis Pink Lemonade by the nursery itself

Miltoniopsis was once lumped into Miltonia, and although it’s a long time since they were split many growers have not updated their nomenclature. They’re probably waiting for some taxonomists to lump them back together again (which will surely happen).

Anyway, they are very nice specimens. I also like to find something similar for my noids - I just label them in the format ‘Miltonopsis LIKE Dark Knight’ . That way I don’t loose track of what the plant will flower like.

I wish we could grow Miltonopsis here.
