Phalaenopsis Gan Lin Royal-Yellow (note the dash) is an extremely complex hybrid, with ten different species in its background, split almost 50/50 for those that like the cool treatment and those that don't need it.

I suspect it's a summer bloomer (lots of yellow in it's recent ancestors).

So, does this mean it doesn't need a cool down period in order to re-bloom? And should I not cut spent flower spikes?

There's no way to say exactly what your plant may need to bloom. As Ray said its a complex hybrid from several different species of which some are summer bloomers. And its hard to know which ones your plant may take after.

Based on its makeup it may be likely that it needs a cool period to initiate spikes. Here's a link for you to see just how this cross was made.

A brief cool period shouldn't hurt your plant if you want to give it a try.

A lot of people leave the spikes until they die off on their own. Its a matter of personal preference.

I have yet to get a concrete answer about anything in this hobby lol, someday I will learn. So just experimenting a little bit won't be detrimental to the plant? I always worry if I don't do everything exactly correct that I'll wake up and find the plant withered and died over night.
