Without measuring you can't tell what the humidity really is. My best guess is the humidity now is less than what they had at the grower's greenhouse, so the upper roots are drying out. The roots in the medium should be better. I would expect them to perk up and grow when temperatures warm up.

I've had good luck with one like this:
Amazon.com: AcuRite 00613 Humidity Monitor with Indoor Thermometer, Digital Hygrometer and Humidity Gauge Indicator: Home & Kitchen
I like it because it gives a range for the day.

I just ordered that one; price was right and free shipping. Looks like just what I am looking for. I am curious to know what my humidity is in my plant room. I go in there and it feel sticky. We'll see.

I buy those at Lowe's and Walmart. If it feels sticky, try putting a small fan in the room, air circulation is great for orchids too.

I have a ceiling fan going all the time. I think I am going to put a regular, oscillating fan in there instead.

Oh, the ceiling fan is great! Very gentle! That's what I use.

Yes, she is one of two now. She has had several posts written about her neuroses. She is a beauty, but she is a scaredy cat and mean as a hun some days. Since Jack passed (our third cat) she has been much better. Maybe I should change my screen name to Dollythehon?

Ha, ha! Actually I like "the hun," but if you change it, maybe she will live up to her new name.
