Default Phal Chiada Francis 'Picotee'

I first got this Phal 2 years ago, as a 5€ supermarket NOID that looked like it could be Chiada Francis. It's one of my favorite Phals, usually these are white with purple highlights and not yellow. Fast forward to this summer, where the plant was afflicted with a fast spreading disease and it went down to one sad looking leaf. I was looking for a second plant to have as a back up in case the first didn't survive. It has disappeared from the supermarkets (was quite popular 2 years ago), but very unexpectedly I found one at a local show in October! This time it was named, and cost me 5 times more...

First plant seems to be recovering slowly now, and the new one is in bloom, on my desk at work. Makes me smile each day when I walk into the office.

That's just beautiful! If it makes you smile, it's worth paying 5 times more.

Very nice, sometimes grocery stores can be a real bargain. If I'm after a big phalaenopsis then that's where I head. Glad you found a replacement even though it was a bit more expensive.

Oh wow, that is super stunning! 😍 I saw one with the same pattern at a grocery store when I was vacationing in Maui, Hawaii. But I was so sad I could not take it back to the mainland Have not seen it anywhere ever since... But so cool that you found it. Totally agree, i would not mind spending a bit more for a plant you love!

I also have some of my plants at my work desk. Definitely brightens up the days!

I just got this one myself and love it. Early Valetine's Day gift my husband got me at Kroger for dirt cheap. Yours is stunning!

Here's mine currently blooming with two spikes on the one plant. I haven't tried posting a photo here before though so let's see if I can make it work. Ignore the file name though - it's a picotee, obs.

Nice find! I love when these sort of Phals pop up in stores. The only downside of Picotee is that the color fades after a few weeks, to a cream color with dark purple edges.

So pretty. I don't think I have seen this color before. I've seen the white ones with the purple not yellow.
