Default Phal. Creme de Menthe

I bought three of these from Carter & Holmes back at the end of October, two more mature "seedlings" and a smaller one. When they arrived, the two larger plants were just sprouting little nubs of their spikes and so I've been impatiently watching ever since. The first to bloom is now open; the flower is the plant's virgin bloom and I think it looks fairly good.

I was just at C&H right before Christmas, hadn't been in 15+ years. I saw this cross while I was there. Looks pretty. I also got nostalgic about the fact that (IIRC) these plants or this cross came from Lenette greenhouses, which closed down over a decade ago. I miss that place, it was really wonderful. Glad Carter and Holmes is still around at the very least.

They had a few other cool phals there, including a smaller growing red one that was supposed to be fragrant. I'm not much of a phal grower, but it was tempting.

I haven't actually been to C&H in between 15 and 20 years, and also recall Lenette, which I visited more often than C&H. Great places!

It was really nice to visit again. They've downsized quite a bit, but there were still tons of orchids to look at -- it was hard to make it through everything in just a couple hours. And their plants looked really healthy.

They've also got a bunch of stuff that's not even listed on their website, for instance there's a sizeable section of bench space that's dedicated to phrags. I guess some of those plants are one-offs, and some were so big, it would probably cost a fortune to ship them.

I hope, tomorrow, to get a better pic of it. In this one it's sitting directly under the T5 and some of the gradation is lost. It's a really fascinating flower.

As hoped, here's a natural light photo of the same flower. The second plant has also now opened its first flower, but I didn't shoot it.
