Default phal species

OK smart people, please help me out here. I purchased this plant about a year ago as Phal. stuartiana. It has bloomed for me now, but I don't think it's a stuartiana - I was expecting the typical white with rusty orange spotting. The form looks right, but this is pink!
I trust this vendor though, and I'm thinking tags got switched before he sent it. I plan on emailing him as well.

What species do you think this is? Is there a pink form of phal. stuartiana? All the tag says is "Phaleanopsis stuartiana". The leaves look a lot like my shilleriana, but the flower is about half the size.

Whatcha' think?

I am of no help, but I just wanted to say it is a beauty! I see you have it mounted....how often do have to water them when they are mounted, daily?

Becca,
I "water by dunk" twice a week, and mist every other day. I have a real problem with humidity - it hovers around 35

It is a pretty thing, I agree! But what is it????

In fact in the species book, it lists P. stuartiana as P schilleriana var stuartiana!

I would say Phal schilleriana.. just a different clon than your othe plant... I think the leaves are very much like those of this species...

you can even have different colour nuances: Phalaenopsis schilleriana

Well I was looking at Oak Hill Gardens website, their February special is on Phal species so I was looking at their pictures. The bright pink in your phal reminds me of the pink I see in their photo of Phal Intermidia. Just a thought is all....let us know when you hear from the vendor!

Mystery solved! The vendor replied back with apologies of the stuartiana being mis-labeled. He said he had a number of plants from his source mis-labeled and wasn't using them anymore. It is indeed a schilleriana. And, being the nice guy he is, offered a credit on another plant. But I like the shape of this one - it is really quite defined compared to my other schill, and I have attached a pic of both to show you.

They are both labeled species phal.schilleriana, but one is twice the size of the other and broader. Interesting, huh?
