Ive been growing orchids for 30+ years, mostly using the supplies from big box stores successfully. Occasionally, mistakes in my culture killed my plants, but the supplies I used didn't. Nothing wrong using the supplies from Repotme, but they are super expensive, and completely unnecessary for the Phalaenopsis orchid the OP is repotting.

The media I bought off of Ebay had something wrong with it. It red stained a bone china saucer I had for my plant, it had something like a dye in it maybe. Whatever it was plants did not like it. I noticed an immediate change for the better when I switch back to my old mix. I'm not willing to gamble plants with any other bark now.

Here is catt seedling, really not growing in old media

Here it is after 2 weeks media change:

Here is a new leaf on my phal lindenii after 2 weeks. This was the first plant I put in the newer bad media, it lost a leaf and just was not doing anything.

It's blurry but you can see the growth.

I would check out any orchid shows (check for such via Google, Facebook, etc) within a reasonable driving distance. Would expect there would be at least one vendor selling better quality mixes than found at a BBS or even selling the base components which you could then blend to your needs. You could also order from Roberts Flower Supply.

(NOTE: It is owned and operated by an older couple. As such there is no "shopping cart". Instead one would email or call them with ones order.)
