Phalaenopsis hybrids--miniature - Orchid Board

Before I knew the difference, I used to buy my Phalaenopsis from grocery stores, home improvement garden stores, etc. but lately it seems you can buy named and identified plants, at reasonable prices from vendors like Big Leaf Orchids.

Here is a miniature that I am waiting for delivery.

These photos are from Peter Lin--that is his hand. I feel a little star struck because Mr Lin is one of those orchid people whom many people reference when an expert is needed on Phalaenopsis.

Photo of the plant. Note that there are two crowns in this picture. This plant developed a keiki early. So I am getting two plants for one price!

I've been trolling his site! How did I miss this one? If you ever want to sell that keiki, keep me in mind.

LOL! AnonYMouse! This was sold on eBay. He does sell some of his expensive big leafed plants but he has been selling miniatures on eBay lately for less that $15. The larger and more popular hybrids go for $20-$35. Yes, you may have the keiki--if I separate them.

Great healthy plants, the blooms are gorgeous!

I wouldn't separate the plants, it's quite a show when such a Phal blooms. But are they really keikis? I have 2 Phals like that, but it's because there were accidentally 2 plants grown in the same pot.

I troll his listings on eBay as well, his plants are beautiful, healthy and very reasonably priced. I actually bought a nice sized Dendrobium torresae from him. He is very nice and helpful if you have any questions about a listing.

Your mini Phals are just beautiful!

There lovely. I too look at his sight every now and then but as YET....I have not ordered from him. He really has some nice ones.

When these plants arrive, I should do a series of photos showing the unwrapping. The plants are so well packed that it takes a lot of effort to get them unpacked! The plants arrive very healthy and undamaged.

I'm really not a big Phal person, nor one to go for hybrids. There is/was one that I'm on the look out for, Corning's Violet (must see bloom pics or be a clone from a known cultivar), the only reason I look at hybrids. I'm not sure I need Corning's Violet anymore.

Does the tag say the cultivar name of the African Queen? I'm now in search for African Queen 'Zulu Emerald'.

I use to pride myself for resisting all your (general you) enabling attempts.

I have to agree, keep the mother and keiki together as long as you can. They should grow into a spectacular display. Mind you, if the keiki drifts apart, I'll still take it!
