Default Looking at Leaf to tell hybrids.

I have 2 very different Compact Phals. The Leafs are very different. I just bought this small Phal out of bloom it was in poor shape and I got it for $2. I picked it because the roots looked good for the conditions it was in. I also like the small round leaves. Any Idea what one of the parents could be. I know I will never know the exact hybrid.

but can the types of leaves help you know what you have?

First photo is of my rescue. It was kept in very low light. The other is of one of mine I have had for a year but I forgot what the flowers look like.

They have very different leaf shape.

The fist picture you can see the doritis(phalaenopsis) in the leaves, but it is hard to identify the hybrid by the look of the leaves.

Short answer....no.

There is no way of knowing for certain by looking at the leaves what the parents (be they species or hybrids) of any given plant are.

Its just like hybrid crosses, while two plants flowers may look alike, they could have entirely different, and varying, parentage.
