haha certainly not~
like P. violacea we simply call it violacea
but it also has a chi name 螢光蝴蝶蘭 in mainland china, which means "fluorescent", i dun like this name subjectively...
also the P. gigantea, we like call it 象耳蘭(象耳 means the elephant's ears), the P. amabilis as 阿媽("ama" sounds like 阿媽) and P. aphrodite as 阿婆/嬤(sounds like "aphro")...also the P. philippinensis called 菲律賓(reli the chinese of the philippinens)....these are some of the common names but not the formal names.
