So happy to see so much growth in this orchid! I guess it's a very happy orchid now
The spike is showing me some growth!!! I'm so excited! I'm glad I waited and didn't cut it off.

For me personally, if the plant is struggling, then I cut off anything not needed for survival. I'll even cut off older leaves if the plant doesn't seem to be perking up.

At least for other types of plants, if the root system is small and compromised, then it needs a correspondingly small amount of 'top growth' to balance out.

I've had to take six-inch potted orchids down to three or four-inch when the plant seems to really be on a decline.
