I really, really love this hybrid! Does anyone own this? Is it hard to grow, bloom or kill? Any info would be appreciated!

I have something similar and I do love this kind of unique color patterns.

I believe most of these hybrids take the same phal culture.

I have this one, I killed the first one with root rot but the second one is doing well. As for care it's just the same as any other phal hybrid, the root rot was completely my fault, it happened to a lot of my phals at the same time.

I don't have one, but I just ordered a similar cross, Phal. Formosa Rose, and my friend got one of these (the Formosa Rose that is) last year. It seems to like normal Phal care and no special treatment.

I normally don't like these sort of large petaled Phal hybrids, but with patterns like this, even I can't resist.

Congrats on a great buy.

Oh I don't have one, just desperately want one. Well then, I will start saving my pennies. They are expensive.

Any ideas on good places to order one?

Just like you, I don't have one yet, it should arrive next week. Here's the photos on the vendor's website though; Phal. Formosa Rose. I really look forward to getting mine!

To be honest, I can't really see any differences between the two when googling on the names and checking the pictures that come up...

I have this one. Ching Hua had them and I've seen it in their booth at orchid shows. I got mine thru Crystal Star Orchids who in turn got it from Ching Hua. Ching Hua attends a lot of orchid shows in North America.

Mine bloomed last summer. For some reason I found this to be a very slow grower. But it is also the largest most thick leaved Phal that I own so maybe they are just slow.

I should add, it's a good idea to buy this one in bloom. The splash is a mutation and a small percentage (I think 10%) are a solid pink colour. There was one OB member who's first one was solid pink but luckily the company she bought it from sent her a 2nd splashed one.

Don't ya love this pattern!! What a beauty! Reminds me of an artists brush strokes...I have a lot of Phals and this one is in my top 5.. such a spectacular pattern.. nice large bloom.. Not too common yet.. paid a pretty good dime for it.. worth every penny...just treat it as you would any Phal.. and enjoy...

Beautiful! I wonder if Norman's: orchids, gift orchids, hobby growing has them? They seem to have every phal hybrid under the sun! Lol

Thanks for the link. They have some really wonderful hybrids but nothing compares to the splash of the red cat. I think I should wait until I have bit more experience growing phals before I invest in something so pretty and expensive.
