Default Dtps. Brother Success (in bloom with two spikes)

Doritaenopsis Brother Success (Dtps. Rose Valentine x Phal. Strawberry Sugar) registered in 2000 by Brother Nursery.
I got this from a Taiwanese orchid hybrid grower 2 year old seedling a couple of years ago; I first saw this flower from an orchid society site way back in 2008 and I was captivated by the color and form that I just got to have it. This was my early phase of being interested with orchids and Phalaenopsis was one of the orchids that I was comfortable growing.
This is a dark fuchsia pink Phalaenopsis excellent form of flower that is big, full, round and saturated color....I am happy to have two spikes ….yet my photos appear lighter than real life.
I give this Phalaenopsis culture located on the east facing windowsill of my kitchen.

It is an exceptionally lovely flower. The color is stunning and you have done a wonderful job in growing it. I'm surprised you'd risk losing the flowers w/ the chill it must have gotten outside.

Help me understand something...I am confused over your information about the AOS award. Given your obvious disdain for the AOS(generated from your many posts I've seen)...why would you give all those details when you put so little value in anything AOS?

BTW -- love the cache pot you have the plant sitting in.

Gorgeous Bud! Is this a keiki from Tom's awarded plant? Do you know the clonal name? If he is selling keikis I want to get in line and let one come live with me.

I love your blue sky background - you get more blue skies in Manhattan than I get living in flyover country.

Brooke

Bud, the flowers in your photos in no way recreate the form of the FCC-awarded clone 'Laura'. As for size, the awarded flowers were 12.1 cm-nearly 5". I point this out for two reasons-to let you know that if someone represented this plant as the FCC clone, they may have misrepresented it, and to let other forum members know that these flowers do not represent FCC-quality flowers from the AOS judging system. The award-winning flowers may be seen by Googling Dtps. Brother Success 'Laura'.
