Phalaenopsis 'Sweetheart'
This is one of the two new phals I got.
They are both intermediate in size between regular and mini phal.
The lime green ones (sweetheart, a cross between Salu Spot x Timothy Christopher) have double spikes but I see third spike starting at the base. This is odd as I normally see phals making spikes at the bottom then working its way up as they make more new leaves. This is going the opposite, but I welcome the news regardless!
The leaves are very light green and round, and quite compact. Flower size is quite big for the size.
A couple of flowers dried up but they are making new ones.
Loving the refreshing green color in this summer heat!
The other one is NOID, but I believe it's sogo series. has light spicy scent in the morning. dark leaves with purple cast, especially on the underside. skinny long leaves. Flowers are smaller than the green ones, but lots of them and very cute. It dropped more than half the flowers within a couple of days of purchase. Quite sensitive I guess.
the roots were all rotten with two short strands alive. I got it out of the moss and repotted in small bark, and also I chopped off 4 bottom leaves to balance the water take up/lose. It still has 4 leaves. No more flower death occuring in the past one week but the leaves are getting all wrinkly.
This is a super cutie and I really hope it doesn't die on me.
I have killed so many mini phals dying on me last year.
It went the same route. dropping flowers, then leaves wrinkled....then gone gone! sensitive little guys.
