I think the natural yellowing is the pod dying and geting ready to dry. Upon drying, it will split and the seed will start falling out and dispersing.
Once the pod splits, all the seed will have to disinfected prior to sowing on culture media (that is the advantage of green pod culture).
Who is sowing the seed for you?

OMG, just after reading Piper's link where it says once the pod has turned yellow watch it like a hawk, I went to look at my Pod to find that it has BURST open!!! I didn't panic, I took some aluminum and tapped the remaining seeds out of the pod onto the almuinum paper. Then with a sterile scapel blade to the seed pod off and collected a tiny sample of seeds. Put them under scope to see whether or not they were viable. To my untrained eye it looks like they are viable!!! But I will let you guys judge that. Later on I will post pics of the seeds under the scope, the colors were way off on the tv monitor but hopefully you will see what you need to see.
I closed the aluminum paper and put it in the fridge. I have to read up on what my next steps are!!!!!!

Very cool, Tindo! Sorry for my doubt. I haven't seen a Phal pod and it seemed so...skinny. I'm currently watching big fat Catt pods mature.
Good luck with the flasking! Definitely check with Aaron on it. And please keep the thread open with pictures and your experience!

Very cool!
In ungerminated seed, you should observe a more or less transparent testa (seed coat) and a spherical rudimentary embryo within.
