Cool requirements for phals amboinensis & amabillis

Would someone confirm if the following is true of these two phals?

1) amboinensis - requires higher light than most phals. also i have read that this phal is fragrant in one source and not in another, which is it?

2) amabillis - shows it is getting sufficient light by a reddening of the leaves? isn't this the way phals show they are getting a higher level of light than they actually require?

thanks for any info. mary
