I just ordered a couple of Doritaenopsis, and I an wondering if I should grow them just like I grow my phals? I can be more specific with the exact grexes if need be.

In general, yes. If they are very close to the doritis parent, then you might want to give them a bit more light.

Most Doritaenopsis are so far away from D. pulcherrima that they are indistinguishable from regular phals. Many of those might even not have any D. pulcherrima in them, a factoid stuck in my brain seems to tell me that there was a mistaken registration of a Phal as a Dtps years and years ago, and this grex is in the background of a whole lot of modern Dtps.

Or, if you follow Christenson's taxonomy in his Phalaenopsis monograph, D. pulcherrima is really Phal. pulcherrima, so all of your Dtps are actually Phalaenopsis... In short, don't worry too much about the name.

Ha ha, thanks Rob. Now I am confused about naming, but I know how to grow them! Starting another thread about naming...
