LOL i was going to suggest it looked like a schilleriana x stuartiana.. it's a really beautiful flower! And when it gets bigger it should put out even more blooms. I love these types of breeding.

I went back through my emails from when Nicole sent me the Phal, and she said it was from De Vreede. But I remember a conversation where she said that the tag said GO Orchids. In either case the grower is dutch. Being in the Netherlands, I'm quite sure that nearly 100% of the phals sold here are dutch grown! And many orchids sold in Europe also come from here.

I have two of these plants and they are amazing. I repotted one and that didn't bloom very long. I thought it was due to repotting. I didn't repot the second one and that also lost it's buds very fast, the same for the plant I shipped later to Camille.
Both of mine are now spiking again and if I'm right Cam's is also spiking.
This Phal. has the most amazing roots. Fat and flat! It seems to be a slow grower, at least for the spikes. Mine spiked in the same week as other hybrids and woow, is this spike slow growing! Also, these spikes can become very long before they set buds.

I have mine too short to say the leafs grow slow too, but I've seen other hybrids growing much fasat than I saw on these plants.

About smell. I could smell the blooms ones, and if I remember well it was like roses, but I had to put my nose in the blooms to detect the scent. Maybe the scent will be stronger on a new healthy spike.... ;-)

Thanks so much for this info - it's good to know what to expect, particularly if the flowers aren't very long lived! I see what you mean about the roots being fat; they're possibly some of the biggest of all my phals. They're also climbing out of the pot!! It's such a bonus when they're fragrant - unfortunately I'm full of cold right now so can't smell a thing!

Thanks again!

Great info thanks both of you!

The reason i ask is because i have a Phal. here called "Montreaux", its a very dark lavender that actually looks really red. It puts out double spikes and has about 8 x 8cm flowers on each spike. I figured it must have been Dutch and sounds like its from the same line as your "Philadelphia"

Phalaenopsis "Montreux" mit Übertopf panna - edelight

But i really want to know its cross and i can't read Dutch. Any ideas?

That's german, not dutch! 'Montreux' is actually a new promising variety from Anthura ( giant dutch breeding company specialized in Phals and Anthuriums mainly.) Anthura phals. Since Montreux is a trade name (like Philadelphia) and not a proper registered name it's impossible to know what it's breeding is. We were lucky with Philadelphia since it's so unique (and a primary hybrid), making it easy to identify!
