Wonderfully strange/unusual growing Phal - Orchid Board

...it may not be strange but I've never seen this before.

My friend, Mike is an avid orchid grower/enthusiast. His collection is fantastic, so when I showed him these pics of one of my Phals. and he was impressed

, I got a big kick out of it and thought it was worthy of sharing with everyone here. This started out with 3 (relatively) small leaves, in bud when I bought it last year. Its' since grown 4 basal's and 6 aerial keikis, one of which is now growing separately and will probably spike this winter.

I experimented this summer with KeikiPro and have had phenomenal, new growth, lots of keikis but this one remained untouched by the solution.

I love all the alliances, grow as many different ones as I can with the limited conditions I'm able to currently provide but, it wouldn't matter what conditions I have...I always keep coming back to the Phals. I just love them.

Congratulations! Did you apply the KeikiPro to the base of the Phal as well as the node on the flower spike?

This one DIDN'T get the KeikiPro.

some Phal species are known for this. Phal. lueddemanniana in particular grows lots of keikis. "leafless" phals (such as wilsonii or braceana) tend to produce lots of basal growths.
