Default 99¢ rescue... four months later

While I'm not typically a fancy Phal hybrid fan, who the heck can pass up an orchid for 99 cents? This was a Home Depot rescue with one green leaf, one brown, not many roots. Here's the same plant four months later. It makes me smile on a frozen winter day. And they were going to throw this in the trash?? Life is cheap I guess.

Dtps. Leopard 'Long Prince Fancy.' (It even had a label!)

Thanks for looking.

Well done!! Just goes to show how resistant orchids are, and you did a great job bringing it back to health, especially for it to bloom so soon!

When I saw your pic, my first thought was how beautiful and what a great save... then one of my senioor moments hit me and I began talking to myself..... seems I have a NOID that looks just like your flower....could it be!? I know with phal hybrids there are a ton of look-a-likes and wanna-bes.... but maybe?????

I have to say... if it's not the same, it sure is pretty darn close. Oh, go on, just slap a label on it and call it done.

Great save Stephen! It's beautiful, and it's quite remarkable that it rebloomed in such a short time. You're doing something right!

Very well done indeed . I love happy endings , especially a rescue .

I was given three phalaenopsis and I must say they need a lot of tlc . I just hope I can bring these back to life . Some of the leaves are very limp , and the potting medium seems very wet . I think I will take them out of their pots , salvage what I can of the plants , prepare some fresh mix and see what happens . Who knows , there may be a reward at the end .

Fantastic growing. You did an amazing job by the description you gave of it's original condition. My avatar is the same plant.
