Default deformed blooms on Phal. Memoria Karen Sale

Attatched are photos of the first bloom of my Phal.Memoria Karen Sale 'Jean' from orchids by Hausermann. The flowers look very odd, I might see the first bloom being deformed but both of them look the same and are odd looking.

Maybe a little odd, but that is a good thing in this case! It's like a triple flower! I really like them. Maybe the experts will know what is going on there!

It looks peloric, a genetic mutation in which the petals are replaced with other parts of the flower like the lip or the column and affects all inflorescences on the plant.

That baby is just about fully peloric .. due possibly to environmental stress, excessive plant hormones ( I read that in another post) or genetic mutation .. you may find that in it's next blooming that the flowers come out looking 'normal' ...
There are some growers that look to reproduce peloric formed phals and some are recognized award winners.
It's an orchid thing .. most others wouldn't understand

Here is a great article on Peloric Orchids - Peloric Orchids

Well I have some good news, I emailed Hausermann with pictures and they said they would send me a replacement orchid of the same cross.
They also confirmed everyones diaognosis that this is a peloric bloom.
You gals or so smart.

I'd hang on to that one for sure. An almost perfect peloric, and really unique, I think.

Default Twin bloom

Hi there, I've just joined the forum because I have a strange twin bloom on my latest orchid. Have a look at the normal one and then the "twins." Is this also a Peloric bloom?
