Default White stuff on roots

Novice grower. Have lost some phals prob to overwatering.
This one bought in bloom bot now showing whit stuff around roots. Is if fungus? Is it a problem & wht should I do if so?
Thanks for any suggestions

It’s hard to say if what you’re referring to is what I am seeing, but what I see in the photo looks like a normal velamen layer on the roots.

the picture is not the best.
It could be the roots, dry roots turn white but it looks patchy in places so I'm guessing since you are concerned it will most likely be a form of slime mold.
these form in humid decaying matter, usually just washing the roots with ones hands gets rid of any gunk, you can use some dish washing soap to help wash them. Dishwashing soap is perfectly safe to use, I should know I've pretty much had to wash every single one of my orchids by now.

This happens most often with a substrate from a different place so a repot is in order most of the time when buying an orchid anyway.

The nursery will have had far more ventilation in place so I'd recommend a less water retentive media like bark. then you can add moss if it dries too much but start airy if providing less ventilation

It is hard to see. However, the sphagnum moss is very old, and breaking down. Now is the time to repot. Sphagnum works well but watering is different than with bark mixtures.
