Hi buffalo, I have two of mine in coarse bark and I can water them every day if I want but I try every other. I fertilize once a week with dilluted fertilizer and nutrients. One is growing very fast and the other is just sitting there.

Hello! I have mine in corse bark as well. I water then every 3ish days, when the bark is almost dry, though sill contains a tiny bit of moisture.(two of mine are in larger pots and need watering about once a week) They get misted everymorning, though only the ones that have lots of aerial roots . I repot every year. Some people do it every 2 years, but I like to check on the root system. I fertilizse about once every 2-3 weeks, as I am not heavy on the fertilizer.

No harm fertilizing once per week?, I'm afraid to mist as don't want water to settle in the middle of the plant and cause rot . I've lost numerous plants to that. I notice they water in the store with no concern and their plant seem to do well, when i do it its a slow plant death

If the fertilizer is very dilluted it will not harm the plants. As long as there is good air circulation they should not rot, I leave a fan on every time I water.

Hi, in my experience stores water everything everyday, regardless, which is probably why so many fine plants subsequently die at home. Or they don't water at all.... It also accounts for why I have so many rescued plants of all types!
Here in England, I water once a week now, and usually feed weakly, but sometimes I just use water. I always use water which is at room temp and has been allowed to stand to remove chlorine.

I've always grown mine in bark (coarse) and fertilized with every watering. Right now I'm in favor of clear pots since I can tell when they are still wet. I never water till the roots look whiteish.

I like the idea of using a fan after watering. I have killed many phal because of rot.
Humidity is good but too much humidity is bad. Trying to find a balance. I got a small fish bowl added gravel to it add some water ,turned a small plant pot upside down and place it in the bowl place the orchid pot on top of the small pot . That should be good right?

I run a fan on my orchids all day long..
I water my hybrid phals once a week with half the amt of fertilizer which I mix with orchid food (half the amt suggested) they suggest on the package now that it is the spring .. species phals - depending on how fast the medium dries out - more or less every 5 days ..
I'll do a clear water flush every 4 or 5th week ..
I hold back on fertilizing over the winter months to once a month with watering once a week ..
I have some phals in bark mix, some in coconut husk mix and one in sphag moss.
I fine mist my orchids in the morning and early afternoon .. but I don't like them going into the night 'wet'. If any water gets into the crowns, I draw it out with the corner of a paper towel.
I repot if I see they are stressed or if they are growing out of their pot or if the medium is broken down ..
