Question Purple leaves??

So I have some suffering minicatts that I'm trying to rehabilitate (not watered and fertilized enough over the past year, lost most of their leaves). I started watering and fertilizing more regularly, and I moved the plants closer to my high-output T5's. I've been watching for sunburn, but they looked OK. Today I noticed that the new leaves are PURPLE! Not around the edges, but all over.

I'm assuming this means I should back off on the light?

Is it possible to grow minicatts with respectable looking foliage, or should I just give up and stick to phals? Ratty looking foliage drives me nuts!

Sheila
