12 hours of light over here. 125 watts. Vanda is doing excellent and even gets a little bit sunburned. Other plants don't. Maybe vanda's don't need so much light as everyone is saying.

I wouldn't worry. A bit of purple color is good on lots of orchids (even Phals). Just because the others don'y have purple, don't assume they are more (or less) tolerant of light. If they are behaving themselves and growing well with new leaves and/or new roots, you are fine.

I am a Led grow lights salsman. Just do this job for about 10 days. but I don't know what's the effect of Led lights on orchid. and I post here is not for advertisement, but just want to know if the led lights is useful for orchid.
Ocelaris, You do a good work, very professional!!! I have read your post - Why LEDs make bad plant lights? There are two points which maybe right before, but now Led lights has been improved .
first, about emission spectrum of Led, we can provide wavelength of 430nm, 450nm, 640nm, 660nm.
second, the more powerful led light have been made, it use 10mm LEDs.
These two points have been resolved, but I have a problem if just these wavelengths are enough. Our company crow about this new prodcut very much, but I want to the fact. Does anyone use the Led light?
Details of the new product:
Super Power LED growing light
wWave length: Blue lamp:430-450
wRed lamp:625-660
wLED QTY: B:28pcs R:84 10mm
wWorking Voltage: 12V or 110V/220V
wPower: 56W

Hi akenwang, I've sent you a PM. I'm possibly interested in helping you test your new lights. But I could not accept anything for free, as it would seem to make my views biased one way or another. I would be willing to possibly purchase a light of yours if it's reasonably priced.

I don't have any conclusive methods for testing that would not be similarly qualitative, it would be a long process, and would be hard to quatify the results. I have a very small grow area. One gentleman who might be able to help you out with some scientific testing, but not necessarily plant related is here:

WWW.LEDMUSEUM.ORG * THE LED MUSEUM - Reviews of LEDs & LED Flashlights

I'm all ears, and perfectly willing to help, another person who knows a lot about lighting, and might have more space for testing is Ross, who posted above... might give him the chance, he might be a little more receptive to the challenge

Thanks for coming to the forum and including us, we are here to learn, and we especially appreciate vendors who are interested in our views on their products. So thanks, and welcome.

Hi, Ocelaris. Here are picture of this light,

Super Power LED growing light
wWave length: Blue lamp:430-450
wRed lamp:625-660
wLED QTY: B:40pcs R:72pcs(can be change) 10mm
wPower: 56W
Size: 35.3*32.6*5cm
Weight :1kg
About the test, I have a advice. We can organize the people who have the ability to make it. After all what we want is the result of lights, not the money for it. I will send light first, If the light works, tester pay to me(of couse it still can be free). If not, I will be shame to get payment for an useless product.
