PLL Light For Paph
Default PLL Light For Paph

Hi
I have a 2Ft tank and intend to use it for growing Paph.
I have godefroyae, bellatum, niveum and callosum.

The light I am going to use is a 4pin PLL light 36W with 2900 lumen and 6500K.
The plant will be between 6-10 inches away from the light fixture.

Is 1 unit of 36W PLL light sufficient?
I am using a square reflector not those parabolic type.

Thanks

I could grow and flower P. bellatulum under regular T8 shop light (2x 32W). So I think it should be ok. I was putting it about 2-inches from under the light, though. P. callosum doesn't need as strong light as the brachys. Now I'm growing the 3 brachys in a completely different set up. If you are in Malaysia, do you really need to use a tank? You have enough humidity, don't you?

PL lights are great for tanks. I have a 36W and 55W. I can bloom Phals under the 36W, with the light hanging no more than 5-6 inches above the plants. Anything else with higher light requirements needs the 55W. Can't tell you about Paphs, I only have a few that are recent, so haven't rebloomed them in my care yet.

I had the same remark, why a tank in your wonderful climate?

Hi
Thank for naoki and camille1585 reply.
Actually I just wanted to utilise the 2Ft tank and free up some space in my rack for other orchid.

I can't believe it with 36W PLL light you can bloom a phal. I have phal bellina pink and blue.
I am going to try that.

BTW how often do you change the tube?
