OK Ross,

Since I have two, two-tube fixtures on each shelf, I have activated all bulbs and just turned one fixture off, completely. The light is not as even, but I don't want to damage my new light fixtures. I just got them! I am also going to shorten their "days" a little as recommended by Magnus above (thanks Magnus!). Actually, I can already see a difference in the leaves. They are looking more green and less purple and all of the plants seem to like their new digs. Thanks for your help.
