Grow Lights (T5) in Canada? Male
Question Grow Lights (T5) in Canada?

Anyone in Canada let me know where they purchase their T5 grow lights. As you know in BC we start to rust at this time of year and I need to supply my orchids with sunlight.

Thanks...Faz

You are so right ! I was hoping the rain would wait until november this year....no luck, I already have to put rubber boots on my orchids
I got some T5 Sunblaster in Portland Oregon last time I drove there, for a good price ($24 US with fixture), but you can find some in BC on this website : Flourescent & Compact Flourescent Bulbs: Grow Lights Progressive Growth Hydroponics
They are on the pricy side...
Also here a bit cheaper : cPanel®

Another store in Burnaby : Jons Plant Factory - Category - Jons Plant Factory
And last link, a store in Burnaby, this is where I got some hydroton, I know they had some T5 2 months ago when I went their. You can email them to ask.

Thanks for the quick reply....I will be travelling to LA soon and maybe I'll buy some then. I still am pondering if I should buy 4-2 ft. or 4-4 ft. lights. I am growing lots of roots but flowers are few and far between.....need lighting.

All the best...Faz.

Hi! I just saw this thread - I got mine from J&L aquatics, which are in your area. They are the new wave brand 4ft x 4 tube ones and work quite nicely. They are a bit pricier for being brand name, but they seem to do a great job and the reflectors are good.

s.kallima - those sunblaster fixtures that you got - do they come with reflectors? Cause that's really cheap!! I paid over 100 bucks for mine

Mine are 2ft (24 inches), I forgot to mention it.
No they did not have reflectors, I found only one place in BC which have individual reflectors for T5 :
Sunblaze T5 Reflectors 2' & 4' - Reflectors & Reflective Material

By the way I bought more T5s at Jon's Plant factory (Burnaby), they have the best price I could find ($27 CAD for the 2ft, $35 for the 4ft)

I actually deal with some of the larger Electrical Distributors such as Westburne and Eecol Electric. They are not necessarily the fanciest fixtures, but at about $150 a piece, seem to be one of the more reasonably priced versions.

Guess they may not be as inexpensive as some of the others have mentioned here. I should also say that they are 4 foot 4 lamp fixtures.

I found a fantastic link on supplemental lighting. It talks about what you need to look for in a bulb and why, it also outlines what commercial brands you can use. I got my full spectrum bulbs at home depot for $5 and change.
