Blooming Orchids in grow tent? Female
Default Blooming Orchids in grow tent?

So I ordered a grow tent and plan on using it for some of my species orchids along with some of my fussy Hoyas.
My question is that for those of you who grow in tents, once your orchid starts blooming do you take the orchid out of tent so you can enjoy it while it’s blooming? Or do you leave it inside?
Do some of you take them out for the summer when the conditions are better?

If I have friends or family over, it's easier just to open the doors for them to view blooms and plants. Most of mine are mounts, so it's kind of inconvenient to move them in and out.

Most of my plants that I've had over a year have bloomed, some multiple times a year, so I gain nothing by moving outdoors, other than potential problems with insects, animals, storms, seasonal light changes, etc. Hard pass lol

Whenever I had a blooming plant in the greenhouse (a very large “grow tent”), they invariably were moved into my “indoor display area”, the kitchen counter.

I don't have a grow tent but do have shelves with lights, so the principle is the same. I usually move my blooming orchids to some place where I can enjoy them more, like the kitchen table or on a display table next to the TV... A couple weeks away from their optimal environment doesn't hurt, and many Phals even stay 'on display' for months, with no ill effects.

For me it just depends on the plant and how long the bloom will last. I pay enough attention to them to see if something is going wrong. I especially like the ones that are fragrant in the home . So whatever you enjoy that's what i would do, just keep an eye out on them. enjoy

That's a very nice and creative way to display your orchids! Like a painting, only better.

Thank you , I made it out of a scrap piece of wood and three leftover pot hangers. I like to rotate what's in bloom in my home and i have a small home, wall space is easier. Thank you again.

I just leave them in the tent, bringing them out for visitors or to take photos. If i want to look at them i just open the tent. It's often less than 20% humidity in my apartment as i live in a high altitude desert.
