There's a guy near me that works with both plants.
His propagation method is as follows:
- Soak fresh cuttings in 1 oz/gal Kelpak solution for 30 minutes.
- Wrap all but bottom inch with Parafilm tape (retains moisture in cutting - he does not do this in the humidity of a greenhouse)
- Dips exposed end in Clonex gel
- Pot up and wait.
He has stated that since adding that first step, his cuttings root and grow much more quickly, and has never had a failure.
My next door neighbor has a beautiful double-flowered camellia that I will be trying to propagate the same way.
