12v DC LED grow lights have been fascinating me!

Searched this forum with no luck.

When I search on-line I get the LED light strips. It does look like they will support the needs for low level light plants or seedlings. Is there any new break throughs in this area of grow lights?

With my climate here I can install a solar panels to do 12v DC instead of solar panels that go straight back into the power grid at 240c AC. These AC panels are relatively heaps more expensive option to set up than the 12v DC.

With a bit more light put into some of my growing areas could easily increase my growing space by heaps. But it is also going to take a lot of lights.

At least am getting the idea of it all.

I've not seen a 12V Grow Light, but if it is truly that, why not. LED light output is current dependent, not voltage.

The cost of running 12v is very attractive.

There was a good youtube visual on the how to do 12v DC LED light strip with self adhesive on the back of the tape. There were only red & blue lights. They showed seedling growing under these lights. Interesting.

Keep in mind that LED light strips like this are primarily for low-level illumination, so the per-chip output tends to be pretty low.

Going with white LEDs, and a CCT of 3000-4000°K (they tend to have more far red than higher temp chips, and that's better for blooming), about the best I've seen for 12v strips is 12.8W/m, meaning that it would take several strips to make a decent light, just as in that video.

By contrast, I have two, 1.2m Philips Production Modules, and they are 54w each.
