Changing moss on mounts
Default

Interesting. I simply don't have this problem. I use a decent lump of moss, as it's fairly dry here, and the water the moss holds has to get them thru the day.

I do put the orchid on the mount, cover the roots with moss, and then wind the fishing line round it, adding more moss as I go so that the line always presses on the moss, and never on the roots directly.

The roots go in and out of the moss like crazy, in some cases encasing moss and mount in a solid layer of roots.

I would so love to have a climate where I could grow orchids outside on the trees, all year round.
