I found the perfect use for my too-short banana hanger: Use it to hang another moss ball mount I've made! I guess this is similar to kokedama, but I don't think it looks as nice or is exactly a kokedama or a mount, but my own special creation.
My dendrobium unicum was basically falling out of its very tiny pot, growing entirely sideways, and not too steady in its bark media anyway.
I have placed it in a big ol ball of sphagnum moss, and sewn a mesh around it. I really like this moss because it dries out evenly and doesn't stay soggy, and in the mesh it dries within 1-2 days.
The banana hanger is perfect for it, too!!
I haven't decided if I want to hang it upright or downward, but for now I think up will be alright.
I think this is great, too, because I can have it anywhere, not just tacked to the wall or a shelf.

Nice mount, but get used to your unicum growing sideways. They have a naturally pendant growth habit, so as it grows it will droop. This would imo be a beautiful way to display this species, but if you're expecting it to grow upright prepare to be disappointed.

Well it was horizontal in its pot. I don't mind whichever way it goes, and the mesh is just on some little hooks that I can easily move if I need to hang it at a different angle.
That looks cool, a great way to hang a mount. Now I'm thinking I need some hooks for hanging mounts in a place I can move them about, rather than a fixed rack for them
The plant seems pretty healthy! The canes have bowed over a bit - maybe from the weight of the flowers? Not sure, but I am loving this mount and it makes me so happy!
