Three new roots on my Ghost Orchid!

I am so happy to see these beautiful roots! Now I want a spike (wishful thinking).

The picture makes it look big. The mount is 3 inches long and that new root on the top is 1 inch long. So it is still small (but thriving)! How big does it need to be to bloom?

I am pretty sure this mount will rot away in the next year or so. The center of the stick already rotted so I pulled out the core and left just the hard wood. I dread having to deal with that.

In case you were wondering, I kept it in the house for the first 9 months after I got it from Andy's (Aug 2009). Probably wasn't kept as wet as needed. Fertilized maybe twice. Then at the end of March, while the weather was still cool-ish, I moved it outside. And the roots took off. Now I water with the hose everyday or at least 5 times per week. Not sure about fertilizing but my instinct is to keep it very occasional and not too strong.

Great job. I tried mine from flask and after a year took them outside and well, it was too soon. Next time I will get them a little older. That's the only thing I want from the Redland show. I hope I find one or 5.

John, I don't know for certain, but I would guess you can't divide these. I think they are monopodial like a Phal so can't be divided. Infact, Ghost Orchids always remind me of a clump of Phal roots. But I don't really know, never seen one up close.

I was thinking that myself but dont know either so I thought I wold ask some one in this thred LOl they would be the ones to know.

I have seen them in the wild, they have no leaves just roots. They are monopodial and actually more like a vanda, I'm pretty sure they are related actually.
