Laelia anceps overgrown mount

Attached is my overgrown Laelia anceps. She was actually placed backwards in the show display and got a ribbon anyway! My husband made a special stand (under the drape) for her because there was no place to hang things.
Not much in the way of wood left to occupy. Oak is still hard and not rotted. I've never posted a photo before here, so hope this goes without a hitch.

Wow, that is one spectacular plant. Other than tying another mount to the small area in the back that isn't totally covered with plant, I can't think what you could to encourage growth away from the crowding. Maybe wire or plastic mesh? If you get some dying pseudobulbs, those would be a reasonable point to separate plant from mount. But everything looks so healthy, it doesn't lend itself to anything that I can think of. Just a fantastic plant! Would hate to do anything that might set it back.

If it were mine, I think that I WOULD tie the whole thing to something else that is longer. Like maybe 3 ft. long... but if you have to find room for it in a greenhouse,, the "ball" is probably a more efficient configuration than a long cylinder. I'm spoiled... mine can live in the backyard. But I don't have any that are even close to that size, they have a harder life.

Believe me, growing in New England is a challenge, and not all my plants look like this or do so well. Too many cold, dark days - I think the lack of sun is the worse than cold.

OK, I'll keep thinking on how to remedy the situation.
