Default My first mount

I just did my very first mount today and I thought I'd post the results. See what you guys thought and to see if ya'll saw something I might have done wrong.

The orchid is a mini Phal that I got at Home Depot and the mount is a piece of Mopani wood. It's an African hardwood that is used a lot in aquariums and reptile habitats.

I have another larger piece that I'm planning on mounting two mini Phals on, but I have to wait for the second one to finish blooming, which will be a while since it still has one unopened bud. I didn't think that mounting it while it was still blooming would be a good idea.

Ack! Ray, you scared me for a second there.

Thank you both, Ray and Dorothy, for your very nice words. I love how it turned out. I can't wait to do the other larger piece of wood, but the flowers on the orchid are showing no signs of fading anytime soon.

Hi Kim, It looks really nice. Where will you put it? Are you keeping it out in the open, or in an enclosure? I know phals are mounted quite often, but I often wondered how they are tended to keep from getting overly dry. Just curious. Nice mount!

Talking Catts mounted

Everyone I guess I will get in on the fun
I mounted 6 Catts today on cork bark and driftwood. I like the driftwood the best. The shape of the cork is kind of weird. But anyway I had a great time. I was concerned about the amount of moss I used. I soaked the moss overnight and then once mounted I watered them with KLN to encourge root growth. If I had know what fun this was I would have started years ago.

Any and all imput welcome
