Question Mounted Catts

Everyone Thanks KiKi, Royal and Dorothy for the kind words they are much appreciated. One question that I have is these Catts were on the dry side this morning is it necessary to take them out and submerge them or can I just mist the medium really good? The instructions for the Orchidarium stated that the fan should stay on all night. I was wondering if Becca or Susanne keep their fans on all night? Time will tell if I did a good job mounting them I used florist green wire.
The other trick is to keep the dripping mounts away from the Phals.

I am still an amateur when it comes to orchids, but I have to say the mounts look very nice . Is it harder to care for them mounted than potted? Thank you!

Looks good, Kim! The only cautionary note would be that HD usually doesn't get true minis , so at some point you could very well have a phal much lartger tahn you anticipated. Fortunately if it h\gets to that point, just add another piece of wood.

The biggest challenge for home growers, priz, is generally one of keeping the mounts moist enough. This can be difficult particularly for folks who have to use a furnace in the winter.

Hi Sheridan! I do keep my fans running all of the time. Actually I am looking into adding two aditional fans to run strictly during the day time only with the other two, and then leave the original two fans running 24/7. Many of my mounts do dry out daily, but for a Cattleya, I thought they like to dry out in between waterings. I will admit, I dunk mine daily (but not in the same water), unless I am having a lazy day and then I will mist them really well by hand, but they dry out quicker for me that way. But daily dunkings take a lot of time, especially when the only time I have to do it is before or after work, and after work isn't good for the 'chids, so the morning is a big rush to cram it all in since I have about 10 mounts. I fill a 5 gallon bucket up the night before with the amount of water I will need and then I heat up some water in my tea kettle to bring the bucket of water up to about 70 degrees and then I dish the water out into individual containers. Well I hope this helps you some. Keep us updated with lots of 's

Now look at that. Kim, you already look like a pro. Nice job...keep hanging! Sheridian - I have over 30 or cats and never have mounted any. I feel that most are too big to mount unless you use mini cats. I like your tho, but wondering if it's not too much moss as they usually like to dry out between waterings. Time will tell, let us know how they do.
