watering question

I am thinking of buying a buttonwood root system to mount my orchids on. My problem is that I leave my home in Florida for three months every year (rainy season - July, August and September) The orchids will be out in my atrium which is not covered. I plan to hook up a mister. I also will have someone stopping by every week to give a good watering if needed. Do you think this can work or am I better off potting them? Can anyone shed light on this for me? I would really appreciate it. Thanks, April

Hi April, I'm not sure what a buttonwood root system is. What type of orchid are you mounting? But I do have several mounts and I do live in Fl. I would say they will be fine as long as you have someone coming by to water them when they need it.
