Default Pics of an old stump as a mount

This was at a restaurant we had lunch at the other day, in Playa del Carmen. It's a gorgeous site, there is a nursery associated with the restaurant and they have a done a great job. A small creek is directed through it with waterfalls and dripping rocks with ferns. This was in the entrance and I thought the folks here would enjoy the picture.

Awesome mount! They sure had a great idea with that. Must be quite a sight when the plants are blooming. Must be heavy to move around though.

It would be hard to move, I'll bet that hasn't happened often. They also had these rocks with water seeping out of them and dripping back into the stream. I loved the ferns attached to the bare rock. I'm going to try and do something similar by my pond.

I have/had a couple of Koi ponds. One of them, I had 2 small firns, one on each side of the waterfall. That grew into monsters.

All year long, I had to climb in and pick off the ferns, that trailed along and through the waterfall rocks. Because the grew so rapidly and krept everywhere, that they would block the waterflow. I tried my best to keep the large plants as one large clump. Not letting any trailers over run my waterfall.

In my new pond, I left the ferns out this time
Too much work.

Good luck with yours though!

Pics of these ponds and the firns are in my photobucket link below. You'll see on the left side, My Koi Pond

Thanks for the pic Jonna. I love mounts and what a great idea they had to use the stump.

jkelee, beautiful ponds and koi! I have thought about the ferns misdirecting the water, that's a concern. I'm going to start with maidenhair and hope it stays well behaved.

I really enjoyed seeing the pics of your ponds. Fabulous.
