A new greenhouse project: drop waterfall - Orchid Board

I am getting ready to start a new greenhouse project this spring. I am going to attempt to build a drop waterfall that goes 5-8 ft (still fuzzy about all the details) that drains and recirculates from a pondless chamber.

Part of my project includes removing a large plumeria tree back to a container (it is the tree I have posted that cuttings are available for trade in the classifieds section).

I thought it might be fun to post photos of the project as I start it and it progresses, so that anyone who has any ideas for me can school me along the way. I have built two other water features in the greenhouse (a pond, and a 20 ft stream) in the past, but this is a little more challenging. You might be able to point out things to me that I might be able to do better or easier.

I hope you will! I'll be taking the "before" photos later today if I get a chance and posting them here. I love other people's suggestions, plant people are generally very creative folks.

It sounds cool!! I saw this at AOS headquarters back in the summer.
The pond is fed by a three foot water fall. Very pretty.

These are the first "before" photos. These show the space I am going to be working in, unfortunately from a bit of a distance. There are several large "winter freeloaders" stacked up in front of the space, I can't get in for good photos until I get them all moved out, which will be after this weekend.

The space is a 3-lever terrace. I have tried several things in this space. There was a huge Alpinia purpurata "Eileen McDomald" here at one time, but it outgrew the space faster than I could divide it to contain it.

Then there hwas a 10ft+ Heliconia bihai "Peachy Pink" there, but it too outgrew the corner.

AT the moment, the plumeria (dormant, just re-leafing) occupies the top terrace with an assortment of bromeliads, a nice Calathea lancifolia, and some other assorted smaller plants like anthurium, etc.

Those will all have to be removed and replaced after the work is finished.
A nice feature in this bed on ground level is a big (almost 7 ft) Croton "Mrs. Iceton", and right behind it, an Erythina crista gallii tree that blooms.

There is also a huge Hoya silver pink trained to the wall, and several very old large Vandas hang over the space.

The dropfall will go right up the corner where the 2 walls meet. There is a philodendron totemed there at the moment that I plan to leave and work around.

O'Boy would I have fun working in your greenhouse. I'll just have to have fun in my pool area.

I would so rather be living in Boca where I could grow some of this stuff outside the greenhouse, LOL!

Its funny that you posted this new project idea, as I have one of my own in progress. Mine however is going to be located inside of my house. It will only be about 2'x3' displaying 1 mounted chid and 2 potted ones. Keep the pics coming. I need some ideas.
