What is the temp & Moisture in your Green House

Hi Everyone,

I am a very rookie on orchids but very very addicted

After growing them on windowsills we have decided to make something different. We have purchased this ready made lets say diy greenhouse for our orchids.

My question is as a rookie, what is should be temperature and moisture during day time in it. I am trying to make 80% moist and 26 Celcius Temperature, but I know I am wrong, there should be difference between day and night.

What should be the ideal conditions in such small greenhouse or cabinet ?

It looks nice in there. The temperature and humidity will depend on what kinds of orchids you grow. It is also important to have air circulation. Many people put a small fan in their enclosures.

Your flowering Phalaenopsis orchids in the photos will do fine with relative humidity 40% or higher. They are fine with temperatures anywhere in the range 20-35C, but best is 25-30C. In the winter nights can be down to 15C if days are warmer. Phalaenopsis often bloom better when winter temperatures are lower for a few weeks.

I have a similar indoor greenhouse that is up against a window in a southeast facing room. My humidity varies from about 60% to 80% depending on the temperature. The temperature goes to 80 degrees (26 degrees Celcius, roughly) on a sunny afternoon, and drops to 60 degrees (15 Celcius at night. I have shallow pans of water on the bottom, with a fan aimed at the water to improve evaporation.

This is a warm house in winter, but it functions as a semi-cool house in the summer, as we have air conditioning in the house and it gets over 90 degrees F. quite often.

I don't know if this is ideal, but it works pretty well. Oddly, my phals seem to do just as well on a good windowsill as in the greenhouse. My humidity in our home is usually around 50%, which seems to be enough. My Sedirea japonica, Haraella retrocalla, coelogyne, odontoglossums etc. love it in the house.

I'm not sure if 80% HR it's too high for phals... I think they can stand it but if it's lower it would prevent some problems related with high humidity (rot, fungus, etc).
Plus, it would be (in my oppinion) more difficult to find an adequate watering schedule.
