Question on Calcium inhibitors Male
Default Question on Calcium inhibitors

I have a small hobby GH which I use for 2-3 seasons each year, depending on how early it gets cold in my area. I built a misting system with a timer to fog the inside two to three times each day (again depending on weather). I placed an Orbitz calcium inhibitor in line with the misters, but have been noticing once the leaves dry off, there's a white film remaining. Research shows it may be some of the chemicals in the inhibitor.

Have or do any of you use a calcium inhibitor and if so, does it too leave a residue? If it does, is it detrimental to the plants? I occasionally spray manually with rain water attempting to remove the "dust" but that doesn't always work.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Comments?
Thanks all and stay well....

I just looked it up, and The Orbitz Calcium Inhibitor is nothing more than a 5µ sediment filter. It is doing absolutely nothing to affect the chemistry of the water, so what you're seeing is mostly calcium carbonate from the water. Don't waste your money.

If you want to eliminate the mineral deposits on the plant, install an RO system.

Thanks Ray. I guess I'll need to look up some small RO systems for the GH. Hopefully something relatively inexpensive that still does the job.

I shut the system down for now and just spray rainwater, manually a few times a day now.

Boy, the things we do for our plants!
