Yes, Joe .. it is the puffy part of the stem .. a very cute way of putting it ..
Technically - "The majority of epiphytic orchid species (Family Orchidaceae) form conspicuous, enlarged stem segments, termed pseudobulbs, from which the leaf blade arises. These are succulent and therefore store a substantial amount of water to aid the plant in resisting temporary water shortages, as during the dry season or when growing on canopy branches that may be exposed to drying sun and wind over the course of the day."
according to Pseudobulbs of epiphytic orchid

Dorothy, I would PM you except you have the feature to receive pm's set to 'decline', at least that's what the program replied with when I tried sending you one so I'll just respond here...

I would love this plant but what I would love even more is the room. I've got sooooooooo many orchids, so little room. I've narrowed down all my purchases to compact, dwarfs and minis on the Catts. How large is the one you've got? How much?

P.S. My private message feature is enabled so feel free

SRF - In order to send a PM, you have to enable me in the additional options area by checking off the box under "Allow Replies from Non-Buddies". I put you on my buddy list so you are enabled at this end.
But I sent you an email.

OK Dorothy, although I admit it doesn't take much to confuse me sometimes, now I'm really confused... I went into the options and I don't see anything that says "allow replies from non buddies." I'm set up to receive pms from anyone, not from a list I create. It's when I went to send you a pm before that I wasn't able to because I assume you're set up to receive only from a list you create? Have I confused you too?

I'll go back into the options and look again. Then I'll read emails....whew...too much for this dumb bunny tonight.
