Default Tall Containers for Paphs

I have been looking all over the internet for a vendor who sells tall/narrow plastic containers for paphs. I have some paphs in this type of container and they develop nice root systems. So if any of you know of a source, could you PM me or post source here. The pics aren't the greatest but the pots I have now measure approx 5.25" tall x 4" wide

Those pots look just like the pots that are used for plants at most garden centers. How much do those hold? A gallon? Check out Home Depot or some other place like that because that's what most of the trees, perennials, and some annuals come in.

You should do a search for Cymbidium pots, you'll have much better luck finding them that way.

Once Dorothy sees this thread, you'll get some links from the Google Queen I'm sure

Here's one, scroll down to the bottom:

Well, no they aren't. They are much taller than wide. The usual nursery stock comes in a thin corrugated container that is almost as wide as it is tall. These containers hold maybe 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 cups. For comparison, the pot on the left is a standard 4 1/2" plastic pot. The pot on the right has the same width arcoss the top but is about 2" taller. And thanks CB...you are right about Dorothy....she's a real go-getter on this forum...and I know we are all thankful for that!

By the way Doc, I contacted the maufacturer of the Paph pots I use (the black ones) to see if they could make some clear ones in various sizes and they never called me back. Must not be interested. Here is the only sourche I have found and these are all dark colored: Band Pot 3 5/8 x 6 The manufacturer is Anderson Die and Manufacturing Co.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

OK, I've been searching for something like this ever since Ross brought it up a little while ago. The closest thing I could find - slightly taller than they are wide - are the square 'air cone' clear pots.

See them at the bottom of this page:
Tindara's Orchid Growing Supplies, Gardening Supplies

Not quite as tall as the ones Ross uses. But at least its not wider than it is tall - like all of the round clear pots!!

I have several sizes of Air Cones as well, and you are correct that they would do in a pinch. Since all Paphs have deep root systems and tend to lift themselves out of the pots over the year, I wonder why something is so hard to find?

I think the main reason they switched to clear plastic was because a lot of orchid roots photosynthesize . Paph roots don't, so maybe they didn't see the need - silly them!! I much prefer clear pots, they are useful for more than just getting light to the roots.

Thanks for the kind words ..
Ross asked for my help with these and I came up empty handed
Soda/water/litre bottles might be your last resort ..
Those cymbid pots look hopeful
