Tall Containers for Paphs

Not quite as tall as the ones Ross uses. But at least its not wider than it is tall - like all of the round clear pots!!

Tindara also has cymbidium pots. I recently ordered a few, for both my Cym's and to try a couple on Phrag's. My Phrags do "climb" out of standard pots too.

The Tindara Cym pots are LARGE (7 3/4" across x 12 1/2" deep), but I have a few Phrag's that are almost big enough for that. In any event, I'm going to try a couple and see what happens.

these may not be round but normas orchids on ebay has clear square pots that are deeper than they are wide.

I believe you can probably find pots similar to the ones that you are currently using at Cal-West Tropic Supply:
Calwest Orchid Supplies
They have awesome pots and great customer service--I order the 5 x 5 scotch pots from them a few times yearly.
You might also try Stuewe & Sons:

I also order pots from them for my larger cymbidiums--they have a ton of different configurations of pots on their site, for prices call the # and ask for Tina Kittel. Their pots are also very nice, but the shipping cost is uneconomical unless you are ordering a large number of pots (the last shipment I got was in a box taller than I am...and I am 6'4 )
Third, check out the pots at Wee Tree Farms:
Wee Tree Farm, retailer of ceramic bonsai pots, mica pots and plastic bonsai pots, pre bonsai plants, bonsai trees, Joshua Roth tools, bonsai soil, akadama, kanuma, Japanese chimes, bare root trees.
The only drawback to these now is that they only come in blue--they used to come in black only, I wish they would have left well enough alone. These pots are very similar to what I used when I was in Japan. They are a bit more $$, but well worth it.

As for tall clear plastic pots, I have not encountered them--aside from the Rand's Aircones, though they tend to be more like cubes than tall and narrow. Though I am curious as to why you'd grow paphs in clear pots--with the frequency that I water I'd soon have a ton of algae in the pots; this is certainly the case of the few phrags that I have which came in clear plastic... I also understand growing in clear pots for plants that are capable of photosynthesis through their roots (phals), but is anyone growing the majority of their paph collection in clear pots?

Ross, don't be anxious if Anderson & Co. didn't contact you, from what I have heard from suppliers they offer consistently great products, but are sort of hard to get ahold of...

Doc, you might also try searching for Palm Pots or Palm Liner Pots, as both of these are deep pots of the band style (to accomodate for the palm's long tap root)
