My Blc King George 'Serendipity' arrived last week from Waldor orchids. My question is, should I repot it now while it has new growth, or wait until spring time? I grow my orchids in the house in a south window. This one has a curtain to filter the light.

I should probably add that I don't seem ever to get them to re-bloom. I can get lots of sheaths, but nothing ever happens to them. They always turn brown and die away.

Also, is bright light sufficient for them or do they need sun on their leaves? I don't want to burn them. Been there, done that!

I've attached 2 photos of the new orchid and one of my big guy that has needed re-potting for a couple of years. What should I do with this big guy besides re-pot? I usually use bark, but did buy a cattleya mix from re-pot me. I was thinking maybe using half of the mixture and half plain bark. Any and all recommendations are most welcome.

I love this group and probably would have thrown out all of my orchids had it not been for the encouragement and help given on this board.

Thank you everyone.

I want to thank the administrators and moderators for being so alert to spam and porn on this site. I am usually on quite late at night and often find that someone has spammed the site with commercial material or even posted porn on the site. It is ALWAYS very quickly removed even before it can even be flagged or after it is flagged. I've been on other sites where I've had to deal with the irritation of seeing spam or porn there for hours or days before it is removed. That never happens here. Thanks to all of you for your diligence. You do a great deal of work that often goes unnoticed.

We at Orchidboard pride ourselves on the "FACT" that OB is unlike any other forum...we DO NOT abuse fellow members and DO NOT fill our forums with nonsense.

The "fact" of the matter is that we will immediately ban anybody who involves themselves in such dribble

I joined this board over 1 year ago (October 2007) and quickly learned to love it. It is a great place, and I have lots of fun here... almost having troubles with my partner, because of "my addiction to it"... I have lots of new members joining, and this big family getting bigger and bigger (as well as my orchids collection ) All I could say, that so far it's been the Best Orchid Forum on the Web... just amazing! :bowing:bowing:bowing and must say thank to Marty, and all administrators for their hard work... :bowing:bowing:bowing

However, I think I need to say something, which makes me very very sad... since the latest software update, the OB has become an annoying nightmare for me :((

I use MacOs (and will not change this ) The new OB, seems to be not 100% compatible with this system, and several problems can be listed:

I rarely receive mail notifications:scratchhead:

I cannot open the attached pictures anymore, unless I right-click on them and select to open in new tab or new window:(

I literally loose 2/3 of my screen, because OB opens as a "thin" long vertical stripe centered on my screen - left and right are totally black:(

and worst yet, it runs eextremely slow now... so much, that at the beginning I thought I had a problem with my computer, but then realized this only happens with OB and not with any other websites... :(

sorry if I sound rude, it is really not the intention...

I just wanted to raise my concerns, and say how I feel about this...
