Naturally, the plants arrived at my office on Friday, the day I left town for the weekend, and so I didn't get to pick them up until yesterday (Monday) afternoon. What's a couple of days, though, after a couple of weeks in a box? Anyway, I opened the box as soon as I got home and found three quite healthy plants, two of which had multiple, bloomed spikes. A couple of the spikes were yellowed, but I strongly suspect that they were already before the plants were packed.
The bottom line, though, is that the plants are quite nice, in very good condition, and will make nice additions to my little cornu-cervi corner. Great seller. ]]>

I ordered a flask and all seemed to be going well. I got a notice that it was shipped but it still hasn't arrived. I've been in contact with silla, who keeps telling me not to worry and that they're there to help...but it's now been 3 days since my last PM and no response.
I am not familiar with international shipping so this may be par for the course but that butterfly in my gut is telling me something's wrong :(

I have had the Epi ilense on my "want" list for quite a while now and while googling for some information on my Hokulea, I came across their website.
Of course never one to pass up the opportunity to window shop, I happily click away on their catalog links. To my pleasant surprise, I found they had flasks available.
I had a few questions so I emailed them on a Friday evening not expecting a reply until Monday. I was surprised again to see a reply sitting in my email the next day. They answered all of my questions advised me that they would be at a show the following weekend so if I wanted to place my order, I could either leave the cc # on their secure answering machine or use the online form.
I placed my order on Thursday evening, they confirmed receipt on Friday, and sent a mailing notice that my flasks shipped on Monday morning.

Ok. I must admit that this is difficult for me. I hate leaving negative feedback, but at this point, I think that I'm just so irritated about this situation that I am going to do it.
So, I have been eyeing some unique pottery for my orchids (no surprise here for the people who know me). Specifically, I have been looking for some clay mounts for miniatures. After much searching, I came across this company called Clay Trout Pottery, which, among other things, makes these things called water pots.

I saw them, and I thought this pot would be perfect for some of my miniatures that I want to mount outside in my front porch. On September 15, 2009, I ordered one pot for 15.00, to see if I liked it. If I did, I thought that I would buy multiples so that I could have a uniform look. I read the information on the site, and I went ahead and paid through Paypal (who has my mailing address).
Now, going forward to last week. I have not received one email from this company. No "your pot is being shipped," nothing. So, I decide to contact the seller. She sends me a one sentence email basically telling me that the pot was being made, but it would be shipped that week. I check the website again, and there's nothing to indicate that the pot was NOT made.
I was like fine (although slightly irritated because I needed to mount the mini like NOW, and I would have probably ordered something else had I known this ahead of time) I also ask the seller whether she has other pots NOW availabe for me to purchase. She says yes. Fine.
One more week has passed and nothing from the seller. No pot, no nothing. No email, no shipment notification. NADA. Yesterday, I called their company and left A VERY DETAILED message and asked her to advise me as to the status of the order, and if the pot was not in fact shipped, I wanted to cancel the order.
I have not heard from her. Now I'm pissed.
It's really not about the 15.00 per se (well, even if it's my money), it's about her shoddy customer service. At this point, I feel she's just completely ignoring me or worse, has no intention of completing the order.
So, tonight I composed this email:
Hello,
My name is ___________. I ordered a water pot on September 15, 2009, for which payment has already been made. About 2 weeks ago I contacted you inquiring when the pot would be ready or shipped. You indicated at that time that you would ship that pot by last Friday. It's been one week, and I've not received any further information from you. I also called your store and left a very detailed message, to which you have not replied.
I would appreciate it if you contact me and advise me of the status of the order. I think it's a bit unreasonable on your part to 1) not respond to my inquiries and 2) not have the pots ready for shipment at the time of the order. If I do not hear from you or receive the pot by next week, I will start a dispute with paypal to get my money back. I regret the tone of my e-mail, but the lack of customer service on your part leads me to believe that you really aren't interested in me as a customer.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

Both the wendy's valentine and jeweler's art has bloomed before, actually, wendy's valentine has bloomed twice. The bright angel is smaller, but it's OK because it is a miniature anyway. Plants are in good health and with good roots. Packing are very careful and arrive without a single spot of damage. I was just so amazed by the size of the plants and I am still excited right now:biggrin:

Yours truly went and purchased new chids this week. I had a weak moment, what can I say. But after kicking myself silly, I managed to take pics of these incredible buys. One is a Phal violacea (red) in bud that I won on Nia's Ebay site....in fantastic condition. That was my first ebay purchase. The other three are from Oak Hill Gardens. All look amazing! Dendrobium antennatum that shows no signs of spikes, but is healthy and very tall. I had trouble getting the whole plant in the pic. The next is a Phal. Bellina (violacea v. Borneo), and the last is Haraelia retrocalla with two buds. It's a healthy looking plant, but wouldn't be surprised if the buds blast, they are very spindley. Thanks for looking!

Cost: regular total: $64 plus shipping plus tax, and it would have been bare-root unless I wanted to pay extra.
Sale total: $54.15, and that includes in-pot shipping and tax!
If I had ordered 3 of their orchids listed at $27, I could have gotten $81 worth of phals for that same cost! But an OB friend sent me one of the plants I was going to order, so I ordered a different, cheaper one (philipinensis seedling).
Why Orchidaceae, Inc. is worth checking out: amazingly healthy plants. The philippinensis was listed as being 2-3 inches across. I was sent a 5 inch plant. The Rong Guan Mary was listed as 6-8 inches, I was sent a plant 12 inches across! The I-Hsin Ice Coke was listed as 8-10 inches, mine is 14 inches across! Both of the hybrids have extremely robust 2-3 inch spikes forming as well. The leaves are pristine and firm and the roots are sooo happy!
Hurry and take advantage of their offer before the end of September! Look for Phals that you can't find cheaper elsewhere! (remember to take shipping into account, too)

I was so excited when I opened the box this afternoon and found a third plant! He threw in a masdevallia!

So i say lets look at the medium and i noticed it was badly decomposed coconut husk and some kind of mush
So i went to my local nursurey and got repotting materials
Today i repotted it to find when i turned the pot over that the roots in the pot were mush! all of them that were in the pot. and they made a splosh sound when they hit the ground. the only good roots were the nice looking ones on the top and outside the pot.

Ive have only had this plant for about 3 weeks maybe 5 that is not enough time for all the roots to have rotted in my care!
This is the 4th time i have ordered from them and the first two had the same prob the third plant i got from them is the only one that was sort of fine!

I placed an order with OFE in April, it was my first order with them. The order came in a timely manner but part of it was missing.
I emailed them asking about the package of double pot holders and got a prompt but "oh well" type of answer. I emailed them right back...I hate being treated like I have no control over a situation so sit back and shut up!! :((
Got a more polite email back explaining that the manufacturer was having some difficulties and they would get them to me that next week.
I didn't hear from them again until I once more emailed and was basically told the same thing.
It's now July 1st. I emailed OFE again and was told they would be getting them next Tuesday. Haven't I heard this story before?
I understand sometimes problems arise with suppliers.
OFE has been very prompt in answering every inquiry but have not and did not notify me that my order was incomplete or follow up at all unless I emailed them first.
If I hadn't needed the supplies in April, I wouldn't have ordered them in April! :((
I resent being treated like my needs don't matter. I resent being made to wait without notification except when I do the contacting first.

and those were tall and thin..i paid big bucks for this plant too more than i have ever paid.
i get it home.. and like i do all my chids.. i take it out of the nasty spag.. i do this.. and get one hell of a nasty suprise.. its 2 seperate plants.. not only that.. the one with the flower.. has no roots at all! just a stem where whatever backwater idiotic stupid greenhouse worker cut it from the main plant because they were lazy and because that would not look good with just the single bulb.they took a bunch of baby type oncidiums no flower spikes at all.. and stuck it with.. then packed it soo tight just to hold it together and to make it look like a single plant.. and even the baby pieces have no roots either!!! i will not bring this to lowes as lowes will not do anything about it but refund.and most likely not mention anything to costa. I dont want a refund.. i want the plant i was buying... so im gona get ahold of costa if i can i hope to at least get the plant that i had bought.. it was also the only one at lowes.. and try to get not only this problem fixed.. but make sure they know someone is cutting corners big time..and sending out a product that should not be sent out till it is actually growing and has roots.. ]]>

The first was a phone order for KLN. This is one of the few places to get KLN in the UK/Europe.
I spoke to him on the phone first and he seemed knowledgeable about orchids and their care. I was pleased becuse he said he would not ship KLN on Friday because it should not be left sitting arround with the courier over the weekend.
My second was a web order for new medium. The medium I bought appears very high quality (much better than the mix I got from my local garden center). It was well packaged with good information and advice about it's use.

I just wanted to say a few words about Cool Phrog Orchids, and the great experience I had with my recent purchase.
The plants came packed very safely and they all looked healthy and happy (I actually did a chat with Cookiemonster while unpacking them, and had a blast doing so). :biggrin:
The extra neat thing is that each plant came with a great tag that contained growing tips, and also a laminated card with a complete growing guide for the particular plants I received.

My first order was through Atlanta Light Bulbs, Inc. - Lighting and Light Bulb Distributor Atlanta GA. and they have the best price around for the light bulbs I need for my Grand Cayman Orchidarium, it takes (6) 2G11 BASE 55W bulbs. I called and emailed them a few times and they never seemed to have gotten tired of me bothering them....lol.
I also emailed several times with Horticulturesource.com (Major Brand (GE, Philips & Sylvania) T5 HO Lamps - Fluorescent T5 (T-5) High Output (HO) Lamps - Lamps, Tubes & Bulbs - HPS, MH, T5, T8, T10, T12, HQI, etc. - Discount Specialty Farm, Greenhouse & Garden Supply: pH, soil, light, pump, Hydroponic, co2) for ordering my replacement bulbs for my GE 24W T5 bulbs. This company has one of the best prices I have seen and they also have top notch customer service!
I ended up ordering the GE 24W T5 bulbs through the company I ordered my other bulbs from (Atlantalightbulbs.com) since while I had them on the phone I checked on their price since what I wanted wasn't listed on their website. The T5 bulbs were almost half the price of the other great price I was about to pay but hadn't placed my order with them yet. So I went from $11.60 per 24W T5 bulb to $6.94 (6500K) and $6.00 (3000K) per bulb and Atlanta Light Bulb said they would up date their website with these bulbs. If it wasn't for them having the cheaper price I would have gone through Horticulture Source for them!
Shipping is pretty comparable through both companies are not very expensive. Even with shipping, their prices still beat the other companies that offer free shipping but higher priced bulbs!

I sent an email with photos to the vendor which is Westerlay Orchids in CA to see if they could identify them for me. It was a quick response, but I'm a bit perplexed :scratchhead: here was their response:
"Thank you for your inquiry, and we are glad that you appreciate the quality of our plants. At this time, the company does not identify its orchids by name. A numeric coding system is used, so there is no additional information that can be provided regarding your phals."
I don't understand how a nursery can grow/breed/sell/whatever orchids w/out knowing their names. Has anyone ever heard of this??? ]]>
One of the first orchids I got as a present was a Dtps Sogo Beach, my BF got it at Costco and since then I haven't been able to get a replacement (did I mention it went to orchid heaven?)
Anywho, I was wondering if any of you knew who the Costco orchid vendor is since I sort of misplaced the label and I haven't seen orchids in my last couple of visits, and their staff look at me weird when I ask. And the only online vendor I found that had it wont return my messages :'(

I don't think I could ever have been more happy with my order! The plants arrived extremely well packaged (oodles of packaging was all over the kitchen floor) and very quickly. The box had been opened up by our dept of agriculture, but they didn't disturb anything that hubby could tell. He said some of the plants had clearly been unwrapped, and then wraped back up and re-taped.
Anyhow, here is what I got:

I went :yikes: :love: when I saw them. And let me tell you what, the prices for these babies were incredible. I was blown away at how big and healthy the plants were. For the price, I had expected much smaller.

I'm thinking of contacting broward orchid supplies for them to buil a place where I can put my orchids outside. Their website shows some displays/mounts that they custom build.
I was wondering if anyone had experience with them and whether it was a positive experience. Did they do a good job? Would you recommend them to someone? what did they build for you?

I emailed the vendor almost a week later, asking where it was. She told me that she was going to send it out the following Monday. I gave it time to arrive and when I still hadn't received it, I emailed her again and she replied, telling me that "unforuntately, I had to go out of town" and she'd be sending it out, first thing...that was last Monday. Last night I emailed her again; she responded with how lousy the weather has been in northern Calif. and hasn't been able to leave the house. All this may have been true except, it took my having to contact her to receive these excuses, her well aware that I was waiting to receive the package.
Do you think I'm being a little too suspicious? I've not been feeling totally myself lately and just wonder if I may be blowing this out of proportions, perhaps? ]]>
Also, if there is a place in Tokyo, I'd be interested too, although I only have a few days there. ]]>
